ProTrak International Announces Development Of A New Web-Based Platform
ProTrak announced recently a major development effort that involves a phased transition of their popular CRM solution to a Web Services .NET based platform. As Koziel discussed the details of the development effort, he emphasized the requirements that he had placed on the project. "First, I insisted that there be absolutely no impact on our current clients' workflow. There will be no database conversion or migration with its potential for disruption, high cost and possible loss of data. After all, our current ProTrak Advantage version was designed from the ground up with the .NET migration in mind. And, while we will introduce a new user interface and lots of new graphics, it is essential that ProTrak Advantage keeps its "centric view" functionality and ease-of-use that our clients enjoy today. Second, I wanted a phased development approach that would give users new capabilities with each phase but would not take away any of their existing functionality. And, third, I wanted our developers to use the latest modern, but proven, rapid development platform."
ProTrak's Development Team chose the Microsoft Silverlight platform. "This advanced development tool enables us to deliver a visually rich web browser based experience while maintaining ProTrak's proven "centric view" user interface, robust back-end and exceptional reporting functionality", added Koziel. In Phase I, which will be delivered in the coming months, remote and internal users will be able to utilize ProTrak's primary functionality via a new web browser interface while others can simultaneously use the current system. In the following development phases the entire functionality of the existing system will transition to the new platform. I am confident that, with this new development program, ProTrak CRM will continue to be the superior solution in the marketplace."
