Envox Worldwide Launches Envox VoiceXML Studio 7

Envox Worldwide, a leading global provider of IP-based voice solutions, recently announced the availability of Envox VoiceXML Studio 7, the latest version of its award-winning VoiceXML development environment. Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 accelerates the creation of VoiceXML-based voice solutions by 50% or more. It is also tightly integrated with the Envox Communications Development Platform, providing developers with a comprehensive VoiceXML offering.

"The combination of Envox VoiceXML Studio and the Envox Communications Development Platform has become the undisputed choice for developers who are creating ‘best-in-class' VoiceXML solutions," said Mark D. Flanagan, president and CEO of Envox Worldwide. "Organizations using Envox VoiceXML Studio are realizing tremendous time-to-market advantages and developing high-performing VoiceXML-based solutions."

Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 is compliant with the VoiceXML standard, which is essential in creating standards-based voice solutions. With pre-built components for voice user interface management, call control, application logic and database integration, as well as a powerful, graphical VoiceXML debugger, Envox VoiceXML Studio dramatically reduces development, testing and deployment time. In addition, Envox VoiceXML Studio generates the VoiceXML code that is required for high-performance voice solutions, including the high-throughput IVR, speech self-service, contact center and unified communications solutions being deployed by enterprises and service providers today.

With the release of Envox VoiceXML Studio 7, Envox Worldwide has introduced a number of important enhancements that deliver significant ease-of-use benefits to developers and enable them to improve a caller's overall experience. These enhancements include:

  • Support for the VoiceXML 2.1 specification: Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 now includes pre-built components that enable you to create applications that take full advantage of the advanced capabilities of the VoiceXML 2.1 specification.
  • Web Services compatibility: These new capabilities allow you to load, execute and unload Web Services, which, in turn, enable you to interact with enterprise applications and leverage your prior investments in software and solution development.
  • Enhanced user interface: Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 includes a number of important changes to the user interface that will help developers find and customize application components more quickly.
  • Performance enhancements: Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 is now the development environment for all high-performance applications. With this release, performance has been improved to support up to 600 channels on a single application server.
  • Updated application server support: Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 now supports Apache Tomcat 6.0, 5.5; IBM WebSphere 6.1, 5.1; and BEA WebLogic 10, 9.2.

"We decided to use VoiceXML tools and platforms for our virtual health care visit IVR systems because we wanted to take an approach that would provide future reusability and extensibility," said Dr. Robert Friedman of the Boston Medical Center. "By supporting the latest VoiceXML specification, Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 enables us to efficiently develop standards-based voice solutions, ensuring that all of our applications deliver quality patient care."

When Envox VoiceXML Studio 7 is combined with the Envox Communications Development Platform, the two products create a tightly integrated and comprehensive VoiceXML offering. Developers taking advantage of this powerful combination gain the following key capabilities: a comprehensive set of development functions that are not included in the VoiceXML 2.1 specification; a bridge between legacy systems and new VoiceXML-based solutions, allowing prior infrastructure investments to be leveraged on an ongoing basis; seamless support for leading speech and telephony resources; a highly scalable, reliable and fault tolerant VoiceXML gateway; the ability to deploy solutions in a wide range of telephony environments; and, powerful management capabilities that significantly reduce the time and cost of administering large-scale installations.
