SYLVANIA Lighting Services Deploys Mobile SAP CRM Application Using Dexterra Concert Mobility Platform
Dexterra, Inc., a leading provider of software to automate and manage mobile workforces, announced today that it has deployed the Dexterra Mobile Service application with SAP CRM adapters for SYLVANIA Lighting Services based on the Dexterra Concert mobility platform. The new mobile solution integrates tightly with SYLVANIA's enterprise SAP CRM and R3 systems, allowing the company to send real-time work orders and updates to hundreds of field service technicians dispatched across the United States. In supporting the reality of business change, it has already proven its ability to easily scale as new employees are added and handle changes in mobile device types across the enterprise.
SYLVANIA Lighting Services, a subsidiary of OSRAM SYLVANIA, is the leader in lighting service and maintenance, with more than 40 years of industry experience. The company's 500 field technicians service thousands of customers each year, performing regular interior and exterior lighting inspections, as well as new installations and higher-efficiency lighting upgrades.
When SYLVANIA decided to replace its legacy field service application, a key requirement was that the new solution be integrated with the company's SAP CRM and R3 systems. They also needed a scalable solution that would not become obsolete if the mobile devices used by field personnel had to be replaced.

"We wanted to be able to push enterprise information out to them on a real-time basis so they could service customers more efficiently. With Dexterra, we were finally able to leverage our SAP CRM and R3 systems while servicing our customers from anywhere in the U.S. using wireless technology."
SYLVANIA's field service application is a full-featured, highly sophisticated field service application that enables SYLVANIA's field technicians to receive real-time CRM updates from the enterprise back office and adjust their job schedules accordingly. They can also take immediate equipment inventories and account for non-billable business activities. With less job information to enter manually and more enterprise CRM information available to them regularly, SYLVANIA's field service technicians now have a productive workflow that lets them respond quickly to customer needs.
SYLVANIA began rolling out their Dexterra-based mobile solution on the AT&T network in April 2008 and completed the roll-out 4 weeks later. To allow for scalability, SYLVANIA also has plans to roll the next generation Motorola Symbol device into the existing Dexterra platform.
